The database is empowered by Loculus – an open-source software to power pathogen sequence databases. The data on this website have been downloaded from NCBI GenBank and we gratefully acknowledge all data contributors who shared the data openly through the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration (INSDC). See here for information about other data that GenSpectrum uses.

Please note that this is not a database and we do not accept data submissions. If you would like to share data and see them on GenSpectrum, you can upload them to INSDC or Pathoplexus.

You are welcome to explore and download data from this platform – directly through the website or using the API but if you do, please ignore the following data columns:

• Accession (version): the accessions that start with GS_ are internal IDs and should not be used to refer to a sequence. They might even change anytime. To refer to a sequence, please use the 'INSDC accession'.
• Date submitted and date released: these dates refer to the dates when the sequences were added to this platform. Please use 'NCBI release date' for the date when the sequence was published on GenBank.
